It's funny how quickly you'll get a live human if you select "new customer" from their phone menu. Within 10 seconds someone will answer the phone and try to sign you up. BUT, try to connect with someone to talk over a problem, and you can forget about it. I gave up on 2 different occasions after waiting for over 30 minutes each time. my wife signed the same *** 3 year contract. We purchased a security system from a company that was later sold to Monitronics. We moved out-of-state several months later and have tried to cancel our contract multiple times. This company does not offer a way to cancel your service!!! We are currently paying for the security system in our old house, and have been doing so since we moved 1.5 years ago. Monitronics has been billing us 64.94/mo for over a year for equipment and services that do not work. I have all bank statements showing monthly withdrawals from my account up through July 2014. The equipment doesn't work. When we call we get passed around from person to person. We just got called by Monitronics saying we owe ~$1800 with no explanation other than it needs to be paid! I too have been with Monitronics for some 12 plus years, and decided to switch to a land free system. When my wife called to cancel my subscription, they said they had done so. I look at my current online register and I've had another deduction from my account from these guys. I just got off of the phone with a monitronics person who still tried to sell me an upgraded alarm system. They were suppose to come out today to do a service call and no one showed up. So the "supervisor" told me that the people that do the service calls are not sub-contractors but yet everyone else told me they subcontract out. I signed a contract with Monitronics while under the impression that we had a chance to win our foreclosure case. They locked me into a contract that is impossible to to get out of. We signed up for a free GE system to protect our home and save us money on our home owners insurance with PLATINUM PROTECTION, who Subcontracted MONOTRONICS as the monitoring company.
