This company would try to get to believe that they are separate companies and put you in a continual loop when trying to cancel service. However, with some research I found out that they are the same company. This is got to be the worst organization to deal with ever. I have recently sold my home and tried to cancel the service. Due to health reasons I had to sell my home and move to another state to be near family. Called Monitronics and talked to Account Manager and he told me what amount I had to pay to cancel my contract. I went to bank next day got a cashiers check and wrote letter stating canel and reason and they are STILL trying to collect money from me. They are telling me after all of that i own them until 8/17. Two parts of system, garage opener controls and light appliance controls failed at about 8 months. Have had 6 visits from 6 different technicians trying to solve garage problem. Experience has been a frustrating one of miscommunication between Monitronics, local supplier office personnel and technicians. After 2 1/2 months garage problem finally solved. We had them for a few years while I was in Washington State. We moved in 2009 and tried to cancel. We were told to fax and email a letter and were told they would cancel more than once. Yet we keep getting charged. We though it was straightened out in 2010, but they started charging us again after they told us we were done. About 8 months ago I had ADT and a young man came to our house in Prineville and indicated he was from the ADT and begin to change my settings on the monitoring device. I asked him what he was doing and he said he was upgrading us to a different system so I let him continue plus I asked him if he could add a security camera, which he did. Just got off a robo-call from a company called Monitronics. They represented themselves to be "ADT - Honeywell" and then started using the name "Monitronics." When I asked the agent to spell the name he replied "M-o-n-e-t-r-o-n-i-c-s. Oh wait, i, i. M-o-n-i." They represent themselves as an upgrade BY ADT-HONEYWELL then try to lock you into a contract. I have never actually dealt with something like this before and sincerely was not shown any contract, no terms, a guy gave me an ipad to initial my receipt of his installation and apparently I was supposed to know that was a signature to a contract I need to search elsewhere to be informed on. I should have known something was up when the speed, sudden profuse sweating and discomfort the tech was displaying when quickly trying to get the scammy... Read more

We have been unemployed for 19 months. First thing I tried to do was cancel Monotronics. I hate this company. According to the contract (3 years( I have 6 months left). I did what they said. I wrote and signed a cancellation request and sent it over a month and a half ago. They are still collecting off an automatic withdrawal set up with the bank.
