After 10 years and finding out my system hasn't been communicating with Monitronics for several months have been trying to cancel my service with Monitronics. What a hassle! Was transferred to two different people with all kinds of offers. After telling them no thank you was told I had to send a letter requesting service discontinued. Cancellation procedures are horrible! When called to cancel I was told I had to mail in a request. Then I got billed for a month extra because they don't cancel until 30 days after they recieve the cancelation request. That bull so basically I had to pay 2 companies for home security. When asked to speak to a manager I was told I couldn't and there was nothing else I could do but pay that final bill! Terrible service, will be reporting to bbb if... Read more

I hate this MF Company who has the worst service. You have to call to get the information you need to cancel your acct. You have send a letter with a reason. First of all I shouldnt need a reason cause I am the one whos payingnfor the service. if I am done I am done. then they will cancel the acct 30 days after receiving the letter CHARGING a monthly bill for some SECURITY DEVICE THATS on my *** floor not working. We have had this service for 2 years. In that 2 years, we have not been satisfied on any level. There were times when we were out of town and the alarm went off. Since we did not have cell service, Monotronics was unable to get a hold of us. After an HOUR of the alarm going off, they called my Mother in Law (the #2 person on the emergency call list) at 4 am to ask if she thinks they should send a police officer out. AFTER AN HOUR!!!!?? My alarm went off while sitting alone watch TV....no one called to check on me...I called company and was placed on hold off and on for 30 minutes....I was pissed! I called 911...told them I was OK if they got call...while on hold on other phone...not till after I mention I could have been hurt /dead did he ask about me...then....said I'd need to pay $25.00 to get someone out here!!! I am VERY disappointed in the monotronics services. First of all we NEVER reviewed our user manuals that were "unavailable" during installation. Then Over a year ago, my children had knocked down the motion sensor in my hallway and I never received any notice or call to check on it, then I guess about 9-10 months ago my mother and father in law unplugged the receiver that gives off the signal to the company and they still have yet to check on... Sale agent assured me that my contract was for 36 months (3 yrs) called to find out about my last payment, which was automatically deducted and was informed that my contract did not end for another 2 yrs which would mean that the sales agent Sky Pepe sent in a contract for 60 months (5 yrs). I sold my house. I called to cancel Monotronics and they told me I had to pay out the contract or continue to make monthly payments. No other options were offered except to try to sell to the new owner. After sharing what a loyal customer I had been, they still would not cancel my contract. I have never used profanity when doing any kind of business, but I was so angry that I shared a few choice words along with sharing I would post... Read more

This company doesn't provide adequate service at all. On a couple of occasions my alarm has gone off for quite some time with no phone calls or anything. Then when things break and you ask for assistance, you get none. Oh so cancellation seems like the way to go but of course they make you jump through hoops just to cancel their terrible service service.
