We got a message that our backup battery was not working(low voltage). We secured a new one. It was extremely hard to remove the existing battery as it was wedged into the panel front faces. Our panel is a GE "Simon XT". After a trip to the "Battery +" store we got a replacement for $14.00. After being a customer with Monitronics with no problems for 9 years, we started looking into upgrading our system. We called Monitronics first since we were a current customer. Oh my goodness. We were quoted a $150 fee for upgrading our equipment with basically what we have now and $650 for getting a new keypad. I don't even know where to begin. A young man showed up at my door 5 days after I buried my Dad . Telling me that he was actually Honeywell who actually was the same as ADT and just wanted to give me a fixed rate. He promised me a key fob . I just wanted him to leave . Horrible.... was on hold to speak with a representative for over 45 minutes 3x's when calling. After finally getting an representative on the phone I was giving another sales pitch/offer. The representative finally provided me with the information needed in order to cancel my policy. Monitronics aquired my service from another company which I had been dealing with on a month to month basis. For 6 months they charged me for a system they were not monitoring due to a home phone change on my part. After several phone calls and attempts to contact a technician regarding several tripped alarms and no-calls, we have decided to switch to another company. The panel was disconnected from the wall and we waited for someone to call. Apparently they cannot see the message we are getting on our phone app- "Panel Not Responding". With so many options in security available that don't have a re-ccurring payment or a 5 year contract, I HIGHLY recommend not using this company. I tried to add keyless entry and other functions, which had very high costs and no one seemed to know the right answer. I have only had my system...which wasn't even what I agreed to with the sales rep...for a few weeks.
