Monitronics - Beware of the 5 year contract
I have been with the monitronics security for over an year now provided by JSB security. The salesperson specifically told me that there is no contract and I will be able to get out of monitoring whenever I want.
I should appreciate the prompt monitoring response and technical support from the company.
But when I called to cancel the service a couple of days ago, I came to know that there is a 5 year contract and I need to pay the $45/month fees for the remaining months to get out of it. I have a copy of the original form given to me by the salesperson and it doesn't indicate the contract.
Reason of review: Cancelling service.
Monetary Loss: $2000.
Preferred solution: Cancel my service and take the monitoring devices from my home..
Monitronics Pros: Prompt monitoring service.
Monitronics Cons: Sales techniques, Hidden contract for 5 years, Cancellation policy of paying entire remaining term.

I have the same situation going on with them now. I did not sign a contract but Monitronics says I did.
They are falsifying this contract as well as my account history. Not sure where to turn. They even called a friend of mine that lives in a nearby neighborhood TWICE that she knows of due to hearing the message they left on her phone asking about me.
Have no idea how they even knew she and I knew each other. I'm calling a lawyer.
