We have been unemployed for 19 months. First thing I tried to do was cancel Monotronics. I hate this company. According to the contract (3 years( I have 6 months left). I did what they said. I wrote and signed a cancellation request and sent it over a month and a half ago. They are still collecting off an automatic withdrawal set up with the bank. I have been a client for over 4 yrs, no complaints until they attempted to upgrade the system with a subcontractor who felled to show for three appointments. I then went to another company and called to cancel service on a weekend and was told it is required to call billing(open only M-F 8-5 CT). I do not use the service at all. Does not matter to Monitronics. Cannot find cancellation policy on website. If the facts were known, then no one would sign up in the first place. Customer service will gladly regurgitate the policy once they have your money. Was told I can pay about $2500 to cancel my contract. What? If I pay for a full five years of service then you will stop monitoring my alarm? Does that sound *** to anyone else besides... Read more

This is a Consumer Alert! Warning! Do Not Purchase Honeywell Monitoring Camera Security System from Monitronics. Cameras are unreliable, technician's visits cost $100.00 per visit, Monitronics refuse to accept responsibility for their agent's poor quality equipment. I got stuck with Monitronics when they purchased the company. From day one, they refused to charge me the amount I was paying with the other company and upped my payment by over $20 a month. They will send someone out even if you cancel the alarm call and then charge you $35. The customer service is horrible. They are "snippy" and condescending. This is by far the worst companys to do business with. I MOVED OUT OF MY HOME AND STILL HAD TO PAY THEM MONTHLY PER MY ERRONEOUS CONTRACT AGREEMENT EVEN THOUGH I WAS LIVING WITH A FAMILY MEMBER. If you plan on going with these guys please read the contract agreement because its very deceiving. Read more

This company has continued to bill me for service on a house I haven't owned for 17 months. because we had a couple of months (literally two) left when we sold, they tried to talk us into transferring service to a new house. Then they didn't show up. I've submitted the required cancellation letter. Twice. They have no record of it. They've told me twice over the phone than they've stopped billing me and even credited me. I built a new home in 2003. Our realtor sent a Monitronics rep. We signed up. We had false alarms, going off in middle of night, any problem you can imagine. Decided to cancel. Informed still had to pay for system until 2012. Did so. Tried to cancel. The alarm has not worked since 4/12. They still took out 39.99 from bank. Threatened legal action. Now trying to sue saying inappropriate cancellation .do not get involved with these liars. Read more

My husband was ill and we signed up for Security Networks Alarm System at our home and our rental our daughter lived in. My husband has died and I am now on a fixed income. I am selling the home my daughter lived in. As a result of a leak my kitchen was remodeled and the alarm at my house hasn't worked for over a year. Monitronic has the worst home alarm system I have ever owned. I rank their customer service department an zero. I live in Norfolk Va and I have had more false alarms and equipment failure with my alarm system which has cost me more than $400 with my local police department.
