Monitronics - Problem cancelling, Conned into contract, Bad Business

I signed up for an alarm system after I was promised to have a $50.00 visa card if you buy $100 in groceries and $100 in gas every month, you would get it every month totaling $1,200.So I send in my first rebate to the company, and a few days later I receive it back as "unable to deliver".

Apparently the center that processes the rebates took the money and left? My Free travel. So there I was stuck with a 3 year contract, that would end on 09/21/2012. I paid the entire 3 years, called them to cancel on 09/05/12, and sent a letter.

On 10/02/12 they took another month's payment, I called and they said even though I called and they knew I wanted to cancel, they never got my letter.

Thanks to total recall, I recorded all of my conversations with them, and would like to contact Get Gephardt about this matter, because now when I sign in, it shows I owe them $59.84, and apparently this mike guy I spoke with on 10/03/12 can cancel my account, so now it is supposed to be cancelled.I don't trust them though, especially after all that I have read about the cancellation problems on this site.

MONITRONICS IS MY MONITORS MY MAXIMUM SERCURITY ALARM SYSTEM WELL WE HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO PAY OUR BILL SO SOMEONE AT MAXIMUM SECURITY TOOK IT UPON THEMSELVES TO NOT ONLY BUY A PAYPOWER PREPAID CARD TO PAY OUR BILL BUT WENT SO FAR AS TO SET UP AN ONLINE ACCOUNT ORDERING A PERMANANT CARD IN MY HUSBANDS NAME AND SINCE YOU CAN'T DO THAT W/O AN E-MAIL ADDRESS AND SINCE MY HUSBAND HAS NEVER EVEN USED A COMPUTER MUCH LESS THE INTERNET OR SET-UP AN E-MAIL ADDRESS THEY TOOK IT UPON THEMSELVES TO SET UP A G-MAIL ACCT. IN HIS NAME. I GUESS THEY DID NOT REALIZE THAT THE PERMANANT CARD WOULD BE SENT TO THIS ADDRESS. WHATEVER THE REASON NICE OR NOT THEY COULD HAVE CALLED AND ASK OR EVEN JUST LET US KNOW SO I DID NOT SPEND 3DAYS OF MY LIFE TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT HAPPEN WHEN I SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN ALABAMA WITH MY FAMILY SINCE MY GRANDMOTHER HAD JUST PASSED AWAY. I MEAN THEY DID NOT MIND CALLING 10+ TIMES A DAY WHEN OUR BILL WAS LATE THEY COULD HAVE CALLED ONCE TO LET US KNOW WHAT WAS GOING ON. AND OH THE GIRL AND MAXIMUM SEC. LIED TO ME AND SAID THEY HAD TO IT THAT WAY B/C THEY CAN'T CREDIT YOUR MONITRONICS ACCT....BS.... THEY DID OR WERE SUPPOSED TO HAVE CREDITDED 1MO. BACK IN JULY OR AUG. FOR HAVING TO RESCHEDULE SO MANY TIMES AND NOT ONLY THAT CUS.SER. FOR MONITRONICS TOLD ME THEY NOT ONLY CAN BUT HAVE/DO ALL THE TIME. ALL OF WHICH I HAVE ON RECORDING!!! HEY ISN'T IT STILL ILLEGAL TO USE SOMEONE'S S.S.# W/O THEIR PERMISSION??? I AM JUST WONDERING WHY THEY GAVE THEM THE WRONG CELL... Show more
