I had Monitronics International Inc. as a Security System Company more than 10 years ago and the initial 3-year contract expired in the beginning of the year 2000.

I continued to pay my dues on a monthly basis with no contractual agreement up until February/March 2002.

Upon finding their alarm service fees too exorbitant compared to other offers from Security System Companies, I decided to switch my Alarm Service to another company. I called several times on Saturday mornings and got no customer service agent to take care of the matter. Finally, after paying my dues in full, I switched to another provider.

When Experian submitted my credit report in February 2007, I discovered that there was a collection amount of $199 from Monitronics International, Inc. in my name for account number, 437**** past due as of December 2006 and that it would remain on my credit history until March 2010.

I called Experian to dispute this amount and they informed me that there was no contact telephone number on file for Monitronics Internationla Inc.

I searched the website for a telephone number for Monitronics International Inc, and upon reaching Customer Service, was told that there was no record in my name and that the account number 437**** did not exist in their database. They gave me a toll free number for the Collection Agency that serviced Monitronics International, Inc. and once again there was no record of any outstanding dues in my name, or under my SS Number or under account number 437****.

My customer number when I had my alarm service with Monitronics International. Inc 10 years ago was 532183.

Not only has this fraudulent collection amount been reported falsely under my name by Monitronics International, Inc but it has negatively affected my loan applications and interest rates that I am unable to purchase a new vehicle or apply for a credit card notwithstanding my excellent credit history with not one single late payment since 1988.

Monitronics International, Inc should be sued for falsification of records, fraudulent collections and no customer service to resolve such situations even after paying hundreds of dollars for an alarm service that provided no customer service to its customers.

All of the credit reporting services have a dispute process with very specific time frames. If the company with which you have a dispute fails to respond, then the matter is removed from your history.

I had a very similar experience with them. And when you do reach a customer service agent, you realize very quickly, how incompetent most of them are!
