I called in to move my service to another location. I've moved before and they have never charged me extra for installing old equipment and required only a 12 month extension. Today I called to request a move out and they required 24 months extension, but with much debate, they were able to reduce it to 12 months. I have tried for over 36 hours to talk to someone at MONITRONICS to determine WHY MY ALARM SYSTEM WAS INOPERABLE............. when I returned from a 10 day vacation !!! My alarm is STILL OFF..and it has my home phone acting as if a PHONE IS OFF THE HOOK. I am a monotronic customer for many years. When I sold my house called them told them need to cancel my service. They gave me like 5 person to talk to. No one could help me cancel the service. After half hour on phone with them. The person told me I had to write a letter in order to cancel ,they wouldn't cancel my service Over the phone. I'm very disappointed with their service, I would not recommend them to Noone anyone. Read more

Have been a customer for over 3 years. Signed a 2 year contract. Tried to cancel both by email and phone. Was told I am locked in for 33 months. Unbelievable- reporting them to the BBB. Read more

Had similiar experiences with homeband business. Cancelled by phone way after contract was over and theyncontinued to bill me. This company is a scam. The thing is, whenni called to cancel, i wasnt informed they needed a letter, even after yhe contract was up. So they continued to bill me. Slimy practice. I would have used them again afterbi moved. They are trying to keep me in a contrat for 4 months, that I never agreed to. I have made multiple calls, trying to resolve this with the person that I initially dealt with, but with no luck. Then tried to speak with a supervisor, which they claimed that there weren't any available. We wound up with this company when Security Networks sold out...Never received any paperwork to tell us who had bought the contract, they just started talking money out of our bank account. When I tried to cancel they told me that unless I had called them the account renewed with them into a 5 year contract, which Emilio the representative changed the date twice during the phone conversation even stating that I had another 3 years. They ask for a letter to cancel your account and after supposedly receving the letter they keep on charging you for the service be because after they recieve the letter they take "an additional" 30 days to cancel your account. Worst company ever. Called their customer service number ane they are not willing to solve the situation. The account is not in a contract. This company would try to get to believe that they are separate companies and put you in a continual loop when trying to cancel service. Due to health reasons I had to sell my home and move to another state to be near family. Called Monitronics and talked to Account Manager and he told me what amount I had to pay to cancel my contract.
