when the reps came to my home I thought I was singing a 1 year contract. I was no longer going to live at the house (this was in Puerto Rico) I told them no one will be in the house, they wanted me to get someone else to take over the contract or the next person who would be in the house. I told them I am closing the house and moving to the states. Then told me they would not cancel because I had a three year contract. I was too busy to keep arguing as I was packing to leave. So, they kept deducting from my bank however, when Brinks took over they could not deduct from my bank as I do not have a contract with Brinks and I did not give them any bank information. Then the hurricane came and there was no electric service for months and they still had deducted. I never got reimbursed for the time there was no electricity, I kept getting calls that the signal was going off. I explained no one is at the house. I do not need the service. They did not listen. Now brinks keeps calling me to make payments. I explained to several reps the situation and the last one I told her why should I pay for something I am not using and no one seems to want to resolve my problem. They have threatened to ruin my credit at times they just stay quiet and let me talk with no response, they just keep asking when am I going to make a payment. So, last call I told her I cannot pay but will look into my budget if I have money left over I will send something. I tried to get into the account to make a minimal payment and now my account number, email and password are not recognized Wtf , so screw them.

Paying for an alarm system that hasn't worked in 2 months | Monitronics in Stone Mountain, Georgia

My alarm system hasn't worked for about 2 months or more. I called the alarm company several times, Monitronics/Brinks to help troubleshoot, to no avail. They were quick to suggest a technician come out and take a look and charge me $50! This is the second time they suggest I have a technician come out for something that I could have done with the right assistance to troubleshoot from the alarm company professionals. The 1st time they charged me $50 to place a sensor on my door after I had a new door installed!! Waste of money! That's taking advantage of an extremely longtime customer and I refuse to be taken advantage of any longer by them. I never had a problem with monitronics until they became affiliated with brinks. It was downhill from there. Now I want to cancel my service with them and they are giving me the runaround. They refuse to cancel my alarm system, alarm system isn't working and they are still billing me for services they are not performing.

UNFAIR PRACTICES BY MONITRONICs

I had service with Monitronics for over 5 years at my old home address. I did not have an issue with their service. However we sold that house and moved toa neighboring city. I informed Monitronics of our sale and was told to contact them when we bought the new home. The would suspend service until we could settle our new home. The new home had the exact Brinks Security system in the new home with more features we would have activated. When I called Monitronics I was told I was supposed to take their equipment off the walls doors and winds and bring it with me. No one told me that before when I told them we were moving. I was told that since I didn't bring the old equipment with me, I would have to sign a new 3-year contract to restart my service in the new home. I already have 19 months still remaining on my old contract. I will just keep the service suspended and pay for 19 months of no service before signing a new contract when their equipment in in the house and all that should be done is activation. All Monitronics wants is to lock you in to another 3-year contract at every turn. I have been a loyal customer with them, but will no longer use their service after this fiasco! This is the worst customer service I have ever dealt with! With them it appears it is more about the money that the service.

Alarm keeps beeping, every minute or so. | Monitronics in New Bedford, Massachusetts

For the last two days, the alarm after being shut off, keeps beeping. It beeps 6x then after a couple of minutes beeps 6x again. We have checked the module and it is fine. Do we need to change the battery on the second door sensor? If we do, how do we do this. We don't know how to open the sensor. We have had the alarm for approximately 20 years and this is the first time we have run into this problem. Please let us know how to fix this, it is very annoying, especially in the middle of the night. Linda & Steve Douglas

I have tried to get rid of ths company for almost 2 years | Monitronics in Miami Lakes, Florida

i have repeatedly called toget rid of this company as we do not use the system any longer it isnt even hooked up and every time i call they tack more time on to a contract that was up over a year and a half ago and keep taking money out of my bank account every month i am tired of paying for something i do not want and do not use their company is a terible company i am at my wits end to gt rid of them i called them over a year ago and asked them to please cancel is and they said oh i see we have been chargin you too much so we are going to give you 3 months free is that all right i said ok but then i want it stopped in january i called them again and said ok now cancel this out and she said oh you have a 3 year contract now so you cant stop it i argued forever with her on the phone but to no avail what can a person do to get rid of this horrible company

I will personally go to my bank and apply for a new bank account and transfer all of my money just so they cannot get one more cent. I have all my conversations times, dates and names of people i spoke to all the numbers I have called and downloaded all the emails i have sent in addition to the docusign form they had be sign and email back.

i will fight them tooth and nail if they think they will report any fake balances they come up with to any credit bureau's. Im surprised there hasn't been a class-action case against them yet.

Is it because they keep changing business names? Or is it because they are part of some big media company Ascent Capital Group Inc, Digital Media Production, Greenwood CO, Value at $553,455,000

The original contract was with B&D Security at 19.99 a month for 3 years. My mother 79 years old. All she heard was free installation and 19 a month. It's been 3 years and the company has changed and or merged 3 times in 3 years and the monthly payment amounts have changed 4 times standing at over 40 dollars a month. She never uses the service. She really never goes anywhere really and I just moved back in with her so someone is always here and family is always visiting. We probably turned it on once if that but for reasons unknown, they feel the need to up the monthly payments. I tried canceling. I have done everything they asked. Now when I call the verbal passcode I have been using for the past week no longer works. They asked me today when I requested a copy of the original contract. The rep asked me for the verbal passcode and its always been my two sons names. ALWAYS. But today I was told that the passcode was INCORRECT!!!! This was my second call today to MONI the first one was regarding canceling my auto-pay which I did. If they continue to take funds I swear I will cancel my account. f them. Anyways I told her that I just called earlier and that passcode worked today and for the past 10 calls, I made a few days back. She said nope that's not what I got here Miss. I'm so pissed. Bad customer service and Service Contract TOO LONG! | Monitronics in Dallas, Texas

I started with Monitronics in 2009 and finally cancelled my service with them in 2016. The contract was for 60 months. I was NOT aware it was for 5 years. I stay longer than I should have and finally wrote a letter of cancellation in 2016. They still billed me and I refused to pay so after 7 years with this company Monitronics sent a $57.00 bill to collections. And now I have to deal with a negative mark on all three of my credit reports because of their bad customer service and disgrace to a valued customer. :-( I have written several letters to solve this problem but the Southwest Credit Collections won't drop this crazy charge-off. This is an OUTRAGE and I will continue to pursue this.

Trying to Cancel! | Monitronics

I have been trying to cancel my service with Montronics, I have called and was told in order to cancel, I have to fill out a form that never comes in my email, its not in my spam!, I call again, only for them to tell me they are sending the doc in my email again, I have had them for over 12 years I think the contract is up, It is my preference to cancel, don't know why they can't just cancel over the phone, but Im guessing its because they want to string you along to get a couple more months of $$ from you, Run from this company, they are not professional at all, who has time to call them and be placed on hold by what they say is 10 minutes always turns into 30+ minutes or a disconnect this company is now Brinks, I wonder why?

Have just cancelled payments after over a year without service. | Monitronics

I have tried to contact reps. in Puerto Rico since I have not had any service for over a year. But since the contract is almost over , I decided to cancel it due to breach of contract. I have also contacted BBB and the consumes affair Department, because after a cat. 5 hurricane , no one contacted me or even wrote a note , but still kept getting paid. All the reps. you had in Puerto Rico ow work for other companies , and tried to sell me other system. but I decided not to. because of the poor service I got from you. Since you are paying a lot of money to publish full pages on El Nuevo Dia newspaper and offer $15,000.00 to any one that has information of any wrong doing of your previous employees, I figured that a couple of months without my payment is not going to hurt your finances. I know several other customers with the same problem and have had no luck. The only response I had was a recording saying that if needed any help had to call a technician and pay an absurd amount of money to have the monitoring system updated, taking advantage of the consequences the Hurricane left us with. And not taking into consideration the horrible storm that just went by. I think that a more responsible company would act differently but what a heck would a few unsatisfied customers means to you. If I had the money it would take to fight this in a court of law , I would . But who fights with the powerful Brinks or Monitronics with a few lawyers under your wings. I hope this settles our very disappointing experience with you people and believe you me, if anybody asks me about you or your service my recommendation will not be good.
